10 of The Best Beaches in Cyprus
If you love a beach holiday, this list of the best beaches in Cyprus could help you find your next destination! Cyprus is one of the largest islands in the Mediterranean Sea – the third largest in fact. The island has some of the best quality beaches in Europe. We lived in Cyprus for 3 years. As a result, we got to visit most of the beaches that the island has to offer.
Here is our guide to the ‘Best Beaches in Cyprus’…
Fig tree bay, Protaras
Fig tree bay in the Protaras area is a family friendly sandy beach and is a favorite of ours due to its crystal-clear shallow waters. This beach is a 500m stretch and the waters are so clear that the beach was awarded a blue flag certificate. There is also a deserted island that can be swam up to through the shallow waters. As well as watersports including windsurfing, parasailing and water-skiing.

Nissi Beach, Ayia Napa
Nissi Beach in Ayia Napa is not too far away from Fig Tree Bay making it another one for crystal clear waters! This beach also has a blue flag award for its clean waters. This popular beach is 500 meters long and runs the length of its own cove. Nissi is one for the clubbers and party animals – Nissi Beach Bar plays music throughout the day and hosts foam parties with guest DJs. So, if partying is your thing, this is your beach! The beach also has water sports to enjoy, such as windsurfing and water-skiing.
The Beach of Aphrodite, Aphrodite’s Rock
The beach is one of the most visited natural tourist attractions on the island. The Aphrodite Rock arises from the sea off the coast south of Paphos. The attraction to the Rock comes from the belief that it is the birthplace of Aphrodite – the goddess of love and beauty.
The coved beach is long and pebbly with very clean water, this beach and scenery are picturesque, especially at sunset. There is also a café and a shop by the carpark along the road at the top. Walking trails can be taken from here with viewpoints over the sea.
Although this beach is beautiful and worth a visit if you are staying in the Paphos or Limassol area, because the beach is so popular, it wouldn’t be the go-to beach for relaxing in the high season.
Latchi, Polis Chrysochous
Latchi Beach, where the sea meets the mountains makes a unique panorama of the Mediterranean Sea. The beach is covered with pebbles and the water is crystal clear. The beach has a beach bar, which allows you to enjoy cocktails while looking out at the distinctive landscape from your deckchair or hammock. From Latchi you can also book a boat trip to the Akamas National Park to swim in the Blue Lagoon. We went on the Blue Lagoon boat for a lovely day out! (More about this further down)
Kourion Beach, Episkopi
Kourion Beach in Episkopi was one of our local beaches whilst living in Cyprus, this beach consists of pebbles and sand. But, one thing that makes it a great beach to spend a sunny day, is that the beach has three different restaurants to choose from! As a result, the full day can be spent there without going hungry! As well as this, the waters are shallow which means it is great for families with children, not to mention the views that surround the beach are great too! Also, this beach is another of Cyprus’ blue flag awarded beaches.

Lara Bay, Paphos District
Lara Bay is a quiet beach, only accessible to 4-wheel drive cars, quads and buggies, making it all that more special. This Beach is home of turtles because of its white sand and protective horseshoe shape. If you visit in May or August, you might get to see them arrive on the beach to lay their eggs. These turtles are protected to prevent them from becoming extinct.
Another reason we would recommend a visit to this beach are the massive waves. If you love jumping over big waves (like us) you’ll love the Lara Beach waves! We visited Lara bay on a quad bike tour from coral bay. We were lucky enough to see the baby turtles in the tanks. As well as spend some time jumping over the giant waves.

Coral Bay, Peyia
Coral Bay Beach is another of our top picks! It is one of the most visited beaches on Cyprus’ west coast. This is probably due to being one of the best beaches for families of all ages in the Paphos area.
The coral bay seabed is sandy and shallow with a smooth depth increase. This makes it easy to access the water, also making it safe for children. The beach is located inside a cosy bay and surrounded by rocky land.

Blue lagoon, Akamas
The Blue Lagoon Beach is the largest bay in the Akamas region. It is also one of the most beautiful beaches in Cyprus. The bay is sandy and not too deep making it great for relaxing and swimming. The crystal-clear waters make it the perfect location for snorkeling and diving as there is plenty of fish further in.
We visited the Blue Lagoon on a boat cruise from Latchi port. When we got there, we jumped straight in with our snorkels and went for a swim. It was a great day! Access to the bay is best by boat or by 4-wheel drive, so a boat cruise might be a good way for you too! The colour of the water will make you want to dive straight in like us! Or if that’s not for you, relaxing and gazing at the breath-taking view, is just as inviting.
