Photography Equipment For Travel: A Full Guide
After ALOT of research and ‘umming and ahing’ we finally chose Our Photography Equipment… We definitely recommend doing plenty of research before investing in your camera kit.
Our Main Camera
We have always loved taking photos wherever we are (especially me(Lu)) but we have always just had our little compact cameras and our smart phones. Until more recently when we purchased our Canon M50 mirrorless (finally!). I have been wanting a good camera for years!
So, we are still getting to know it at the moment but we will hopefully have some great photos from around the world to share with you in the future.
Our Second Camera
We also have an additional camera, the canon G7X mark II which we use as a vlog camera. This one is great to take on hikes as it is more compact than the Canon M50. But, we also use this in addition to the Canon M50 on photoshoots to get video footage, extra shots and ‘behind the scene shots.
Our list of all the Photography Equipment we use:
Canon Photography Equipment
M50 mirrorless body – We now use for most of our Photoshoots as our main camera and its also great for 4k video!
15-45mm lens – This is our kit lens; its great for portraits up close as well as far away landscapes… its a really versatile travel companion.
55-200mm lens – This is our extra lens that also came in our camera kit as an added bonus! This one is great for closer up shoots, wildlife and it is compact and lightweight making it ideal to take on travels and adventures.
G7X mark II– This is a great camera for Vlogging, which is what it mainly sells for. Plus it is perfect for quick shots and it’s also excellent in low light.
1x Canon battery and 1x LP-E12 Energizer for the Canon M50 – An important piece of kit is an extra battery, as you would hate for your camera battery to run out while you’re in a beautiful place that you want to capture, or halfway through a photoshoot.
Canon ES100 carry bag – This is great for just carrying our Canon M50 and the bits we need for that.
Canon Zoemini S – This is our little instant print camera/printer. Great for making little Polaroid style photos. We love the fact this has the option to print from another device… or simply take a photo on it and print instantly.
Other bits of Photography Equipment
Sandisk Extreme PRO 64gb SD card x2 – Another important thing to have is a lot of memory, especially while travelling, you don’t want to run out of space and miss some amazing shots!
Manfrotto MB BP Mover-30 photo backpack – We use this backpack when going on full days out with all the camera equipment. Its got lots of different compartments and it keeps everything packed away nice and safe.
Manfrotto Be free advanced tripod – This is how we do our photoshoots of ourselves without the help of anyone else. Its a must have for every travel couple or even solo travelers to help you get those fab travel shots. This tripod is only 1,49kg in weight making it a great choice for your adventures.
JJC memory card case – We store our memory cards in this case, keeping them altogether safe, dry and dust free!
JGorillia Tripod 500 – We use this little tripod with our Canon G7X Mark II. Either as a tripod for holding the camera still or for vlogging. Its light and flexible but very sturdy!
Extra Cameras
Fujifilm FinePix XP80 Tough Digital Camera– This is what we currently use for any water based adventures! We are looking at getting a go pro at some point… But, we actually love this camera, it does take some good shots.
Samsung S21 Smart Phone -This isn’t exactly part of our camera kit as such… but it does have a really good camera on it! But, it was actually used to take the feature photo on this post as well as the flat lay below. Having a phone with a good camera is great for travel & adventure. It enables you to take quick shots at good quality if you didn’t take your camera or didn’t quite have time to get it out and ready.

We hope this helped you in some way, we definitely found it helpful to read what Photography Equipment other travel bloggers used when choosing some of our kit… If this did help, let us know in the comments?
